It's good to be right sometimes.

Who'd a thunk it? A tiny, butterfly-shaped organ could give so many people, so much trouble.....but that's my story, anyway. I went to see my endocrinologist this week. What I like most about this guy is that he actually LISTENS to me. The whole time I'm talking, he's typing what I'm saying, word for word. And he's a lot younger than my doctor down south, who insisted on calling me by my given name and couldn't pronounce it to save his life. That doctor told me that I'm on the Internet too much. Well, what else is new? But he meant that I had read too many articles on what therapies we might try. I'm glad he's not around anymore.

We had to wait a bit for my blood work to finish and he came in the waiting room to give me an ETA of when I'll be next. It turns out that my hunch was correct, and ya'll know how much I enjoy being right. ;) Normal TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) levels are from .4 to 5.5. Last time I was in, it was within that range, 2.2. Well, friends and neighbors, it was up to 12.2. That's high. And that's probably why the dosage was off. So, the fatigue, weight gain, brain-fogging, and all-around crankiness I've been going through isn't in my head. And isn't necessarily because I'm over 40. That made me feel a lot better.

I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which means my body, (for whatever reason) is perceiving that the thyroid organ itself is an enemy. So, it sends it's little white-celled soldiers to attack it and ultimately, kill it. When I was first seen back in 2000 for this, there was a cancer scare. My antibodies kinda went through the roof. And they still do, but there's no reason to suspect cancer, (and yes, I've been tested.). But such is the nature of this ailment. The dosage I'm on now is one step before the last dosage they can give you. And the Doc told me it's a pretty telltale sign of my thyroid about to bite the dust. Once it does, it'll be easier to regulate my dosage, and that'll be cool. So, you now have more info than you wanted to know about my thyroid problems.

Boy Scout gets his Tenderfoot

Yes, the Boy Scout is seen here with Hunnybunny and I getting his Tenderfoot rank. I actually got a pin, and can be seen here putting it on to avoid being stabbed. I'm very proud of him. He's not far from Second Class as we speak.

"Every Girl's Crazy 'bout A Sharp Dressed Man"

Well, Z. Z. Topp is right, we are all crazy about sharp dressed men. Unfortunately, the reason Hunnybunny's so sharp dressed is a funeral. But I had to snap some pics for Grandma Hunnybunny.

Did I mention he's 6'4? And no, he's not military. He can't stand his wavy hair to have any length to it. Personally, I'm still smitten.

Bloggers make the media

I know I'm not telling any of bloggers out there anything new, but I thought this story was pretty interesting. The Libby Trial is going to be the first to allow bloggers in Court alongside reporters. Here's the ABC News story of on Robert Cox of Media Bloggers Association covering the trial of Scooter Libby.

I guess if You tube can get the attention of the media, maybe the times "they are 'a changin'".

WIP Wednesday

Well, I actually posted this earlier in the week but only Debra saw it. I've had the pieces cut for about a year, and I'm just putting it up on the wall to make sure the colors go together. It was supposed to be a baby quilt, but it's too big. Guess I'll have to figure out something else.

"Hey, you just wanted a fresh start, right?!"

That's a quote from an email of a college buddy of mine. She was trying to be kind to me about my 'mishap'. But, you know, she's got a valid point. This incident gives me a chance to really think about what I'm writing out in cyberspace.

Another kind email asked me why did I pick "The Jury is Still Out" as the title for a blog. So, being I need a few posts in here, I thought I'd answer Tammy.

When I was getting on AOL years ago, I was studying paralegal studies. I thought I needed a law sounding handle. Having been called a bit dippy by my brothers, I thought a nicer term was that "The Jury is Still Out", meaning I may come around and surprise you yet. And it's true. I have no idea where this life is taking me. But I'm glad to know that God does know where I'm going and how I'm getting there.

Color Me Stupid

Well, friends and neighbors, that's what I'm saying. I'm an idiot. I accidently deleted my blogger account! Trying to get rid of Ad Sense, I didn't notice that Blogger is a 'product' of Google. Well, the rest they say, (whoever THEY may be) is history. You are finding me at a new url. What makes me sad is that I 'm going to have to track down several people, and some I know I won't necessarily find. They might think I just didn't care enough to tell them. But, you'll vouch for me....won't you?
