...thanks to my buddy Jane. She called to tell me about some fabric they had, which I didn't get,and I found this for $9.75! Thanks again, Jane!
Ain't she purty? Believe it or not, I got this at Goodwill, thanks to my buddy Jane. Can you believe that? And I've already heard back from Singer...it was made in 1950, and is considered to be one of the best Singers of all time. Truth be told, even if it doesn't work, I got this for sentimental reasons. My mother had one just like it. While she didn't think I could learn, (too much of a Tomboy, she thought)I always admired her sewing for me. She's most likely getting a kick out of this!

Can Jane be MY friend too??? I would love to find a treasure like that! I guess its time for me to poke around the Goodwill again, huh?
SCore score score! you lucky lasdy!
I bet it works. Those machines last forever. I do most of my piecing with a 1938 Singer Featherweight. Best thing I ever bought.
Woohoo! Such a deal! We love Featherweights! Mine is "rescued" from my MIL's garage. It had been neglected and forgotten since it jammed up over 25 years ago. Thread was badly tangled around the bobbin case and housing. I took it completely apart and cleaned it (by myself!) and it runs like a champ now. They're real easy to fix up, you can find lots of info (and parts) online.
Have fun!
I can't imagine finding a treasure like that for so little! Enjoy it!
I want that! I want that!
You scored big time! I'm surprised that Goodwill didn't keep it and try to sell it on eBay or something.
I love Goodwill -- it's hard to pass one by without going in and seeing what they've got. Actually, any thrift store is hard to pass up. There's always a hidden treasure, just waiting to be found ... as you've proven!
Wow!!!!!
BFF,
Miss T
WOW! Good for you. You know, my aunt when she moved from her house, gave AWAY her old SINGER, and asked me if I wanted it. Can you imagine -- I said no thanks. I have regretted it ever since. I think hers was even older although it was electric. You cannot beat those old machines.
Congrats to you!!! I know your mother would be proud.
I've not fallen off the planet--we had computer problems for a couple of weeks.
I enjoyed catching up on your blog.
